Man charged with forcible rape in Columbia County

STOCKPORT – An Albany man was arrested and charged with a forcible
rape that allegedly occurred in the Town of Stockport.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s office was notified of the alleged
attack on March 2 and began an investigation.

On Wednesday, August 8 the sheriff’s office Special Victims Unit
arrested Alvin Carter, 47, of Albany, who at the time of the reported
incident was living in Stockport. He was charged with one count of first-degree
rape.

Carter was remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash
bail or $50,000 bond.

Assisting in the investigation were the Columbia County District Attorney’s
Office and Dr. Stephen and Suzanne Menkes Child Advocacy Center.

The investigation is continuing and any other potential victims are asked
