New Westchester Public Safety commissioner named

WHITE PLAINS – Thomas Gleason has been named the new commissioner of Westchester County Public Safety commissioner by County Executive George Latimer, who also named Terrance Raynor as the new deputy commissioner.
Gleason replaces acting Commissioner Marty McGlynn.
Gleason, a Yonkers native, began his law enforcement career when he joined the county public safety department in January 1983 as a member of the patrol division. He rose through the ranks of detective, sergeant and lieutenant.
Over his career, he worked and supervised in every division of the department – patrol, general investigations, welfare fraud, civil division of the sheriff’s office, narcotics, office of professional responsibility and special investigations, field services and support services.
Gleason was promoted to captain in 2007 and inspector in 2013.
The county Department of Public Safety is also known as the county police department.
