Sullivan County awards grants to promote cultural and recreational opportunities

MONTICELLO – A total of $38,864 has been awarded by Sullivan County to eight organizations for projects involving recreation, historic preservation and the arts. The money is expected to leverage over $80,000 in total project costs.
This is the second round of the county’s Plans and Progress Program; the first round in May, with a $100,000 total allocated for the year.
Over $200,000 in request were received. “Having brought this idea forward to my colleagues two years ago, I am thrilled with the success of Plans and Progress, as it demonstrates the need for and value of county investment in community initiatives,” said County Legislator Alan Sorensen, chairman of the Planning Committee.
Awards include:

$3,900 to Delaware Valley Arts Alliance
$600 to Delaware Valley Opera
$7,320 to Mamakating Little League
$7,000 to Theatrical Arts at Forestburgh
$3,225 to the Town of Lumberland
$10,000 to the Town of Mamakating
$1,492 to the Livingston Manor Chamber of Commerce
$5,147 to Twin Bridge Play School
