POUGHKEEPSIE – The Poughkeepsie City PBA will have to wait a little longer for a new contract as the common council Monday night tabled a vote on the new pact.
The motion to table came after Alderman Christopher Petsas called for a caucus, but before public comment.
Mayor Robert Rolison and City Administrator Mark Nelson noted the PBA rank-and-file has approved the new contract and said it should be approved by the council ASAP.
But, Alderwoman Natasha Cherry, chairwoman of the finance committee, said she needs some clarifications first.
“There are a couple of things myself that I just need to go over; I only need another day or so, and Yvonne (Flowers) is the same way,” Cherry said. “We are the finance committee, and then we can talk to our colleagues who are on the fence, but if we to rush to vote tonight, the vote would not have gone the way it did.”
Once she secures clarification, Cherry said she would be willing to call a special council meeting in a week to vote on the contract.
