KINGSTON – Fire late Tuesday
morning gutted a back porch and rear portion of the first floor of a single-family
house at 68 Pine Grove Avenue in Kingston.
City Fire Lt. Andrew Nilsen said firefighters were on the scene three
minutes after the 11 a.m. call came in.
The fire started in the enclosed rear porch and extended into the first
floor of the house with heat, smoke and water damage to the second floor
and attic.
The two occupants escaped uninjured and no firefighters were hurt during
the operations.
It took firefighters 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
The cause is undetermined and under investigation, Nilsen said.
Port Ewen and Ulster Hose fire departments assisted at the scene along
with Mobile Life Support Services.
Kingston firemen were back to their stations at 1:35 p.m.
