Fishkill Correctional inmate charged with possessing improvised knife

FISHKILL – A prisoner at Fishkill Correctional Facility has been charged with promoting prison contraband as a felony after it was determined he had an improvised weapon.
State Police charged Alexander Welch-Vanzile, 22, of Cortland after the
weapon, made from a sharpened piece of metal, was found in his possession.
He was arraigned and returned to the custody of the State Department of
Corrections and Community Supervision.
