HANCOCK – State Police are investigating the fatal fall of a man from Jensen’s Ledge on the Bouchoux Trail State Preserve in Hancock.
Sullivan County 911 received a call around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday that a man had fallen off Jensen’s Ledge. A Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputy located the man and confirm he was dead.
An investigation found that the man, whose name police did not immediately release, was hiking with two friends when he attempted to take a position near the ledge to obtain a better picture but slipped off.
Due to limited nighttime lighting and difficult terrain, the body was not removed until Monday afternoon. Forest rangers stayed with the body through the night and removed it with assistance from Hancock firefighters.
