Port Ewen man arrested for theft of tip jar, offering box

KINGSTON – A Port Ewen man, wanted for questioning in connection
with the theft of a tip jar from an Uptown business and an offering box
from a church on Wall Street in Kingston, was arrested by city police
on Wednesday.

Detectives spotted Jonathan Mead, 27, in the area of Sawkill Road and
Washington Avenue.

Mead fled from officers, but was apprehended a short time later and charged
with burglary, petit larceny, obstructing governmental administration
and resisting arrest.

He was arraigned in Kingston City Court and remanded to the Ulster County
Jail in lieu f $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
