Eleven-year-old girl stabbed in Newburgh

NEWBURGH – An 11-year-old
girl was stabbed in the left arm Saturday night in the area of 108 Kenny
Court Apartments in the City of Newburgh and two other young girls have
been arrested.

The victim was transported to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital for treatment.

As officers investigated at the scene, a 13-year-old girl charged at them
while swinging a large kitchen knife.

Officers, at gunpoint, told the girl to drop the knife, although she continued
to swing it at them. She was ultimately tackled from behind and taken
into custody, charged with menacing. She was later released to a parent.

A 14-year-old girl was also arrested during the incident and charged with
assault. She was released to a parent pending a family court appearance.
One other underage girl is being sought in connection with the incident.
