Fallon, in the current Medline facility

WAWAYANDA – In preparation to address the Hamptonburgh Town Board and community regarding their expansion project proposed for the 360-acre lot across from Thomas Bull Memorial Park, Medline Industries Inc. officials invited elected officials and business leaders to tour their Wawayanda facility Thursday afternoon.
The proposed “Hudson Valley Crossing 2” facility would include
many of the same features as the Wawayanda facility, including LEED certified
design and robotic inventory retrieval. It would also support an estimated
500 full-time jobs.
The scale of the development has decreased significantly since their initial proposal in 2017, leaving 268 acres of green space, while only developing 92.3 acres for the actual facility and represents a $100 million investment into the Hamptonburgh community.
Medline Director of Operations Thomas Fallon said the importance of bringing additional jobs to the community and keeping their operation within the county, as well as Medline’s focus on running a quiet, green operation, is something he wants to get across to the Hamptonburgh board when he addresses them.
“I hope that when we present to the board they will see and understand what we are asking for and the impact of how important Medline is not only to the community, but how important we will be to their community,” said Fallon.
The parcel Medline is proposing must be rezoned from residential to light-industrial to accommodate them.  There has already been prior approval from the town to develop an approximately 290-unit residential project; however, nothing ever came of it.
Despite that, Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus thinks having Medline build there instead is a much better deal for the community.
“They’re employing 300 people now, plus another 200 prospectively when they expand. It’s a great win-win and we’re going to support it every step of the way,” Neuhaus said.
Medline will address the Hamptonburgh Board and community Monday with their proposal for the development, as well as the rezoning.
