MID-HUDSON – The retiring State Senator John Bonacic has received nothing but accolades from both sides of the political aisle.
Ulster County GOP Chairman Roger Rascoe praised Bonacic for his decades of public service.
“He has done so much for the state and for our district; the words cannot express how grateful we are for everything he has done for us.”

Orange County GOP Chairwoman Courtney Greene was sad to see Bonacic leave public office.
“This news is bittersweet, but I would like to thank the senator for his many years of service to the people of Orange County. He has always been a loyal Republican,” Greene said.
Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, a Democrat, had praise for Bonacic.
“Our cooperation with each other, whether it was the casino or helping with Bethel Woods or with infrastructure in our community, I think that working together – and of course, he had a lot more years than I did – but, he certainly does deserve a lot of accolades for the work he did for so many people,” Gunther said.
Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus, a Republican, said Bonacic is
“one of the most decent men that I have ever met in public service.
His retirement is a major loss to the residents that he proudly served.”
The leadership of the Hudson Valley Labor Federation thanks him “for his four decades of public service. We wish you all the best in your retirement.”
