NEWBURGH – Torrance Harvey is the new mayor of the City of Newburgh.
The city council named him to fill the vacancy left with the death of
Judy Kennedy.

Harvey had to resign his council post effective immediately in order to
be named mayor.

He will have to run in November for the remaining two years of the current
mayoral term.

When the council resolution was read to name him mayor, residents in the
audience jumped to their feet and erupted in cheers.

The vote to appoint him as mayor for the remainder of this year was unanimous.

.Harvey then nominated Anthony Grice as councilman-at-large to fill the
vacancy created by his resignation and Grice’s nomination was unanimously
approved by council members.
