CLARKSTOWN – A former student at the Summit School in Upper Nyack
was arrested on Saturday for making several phoned in threats against
the school.
An investigation by Clarkstown Town Police and Suffolk County Police led
to the arrest of Robert Csak, 32, of Lindenhurst, Long Island on weapons
possession charges.
He was charged by Suffolk County Police with 18 counts of criminal possession
of a weapon for possession of an assault weapon, a large-capacity ammunition
feeding device, a silencer; and an ASP-baton.
A male employee at the Summit School told police on Saturday that he received
six messages on the school’s voicemail system from a former student
a the school.
The former student caller was later identified as Csak.
The messages were accidentally erased, but the staff member who heard
them told police he was concerned for the safety of the students and staff
and questioned the well-being of the caller.
Clarkstown Police contacted Suffolk County Police with the information
and asked them to check on Csak and that is when they found all of the
weapons and arrested him.
Clarkstown Police Chief Raymond McCullagh said his agency will continue
to investigate any threat that is received concerning the safety and well-being
of students and staff in Clarkstown.
The Summit School works with young adults whose social-emotional difficulties
are affecting their day-to-day functioning, according to the school’s
website.
