POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess
County Legislature is poised to approve bonding of $7.6 million for two
construction projects.

It will cost $4.6 million to construct the interior of 45 Market Street
in the City of Poughkeepsie for use as the public defender’s office.
The county bought the building in late 2016 and at that time approved
bonding for $1.75 million for renovation, but later analysis determined
it would cost significantly more to perform all of the necessary work.

As a result, the legislature was asked to appropriate the additional funds.

Lawmakers will also vote to bond for $3 million to demolish the county’s
Emergency Services Training Center building at the county Department of
Emergency Response Creek Campus in Hyde Park and construct a new facility.

Both projects were approved by committee members on Thursday and will
go before a vote of the full legislature on Monday evening.
