POUGHKEEPSIE – The sudden closure of all Ridley-Lowell Business and Technical Institute campuses including in Poughkeepsie on Wednesday is “very unfortunate,” says Mayor Robert Rolison.
The Poughkeepsie campus has been operating since 2010.
Rolison said the city is talking to the community and the state Department of Education Bureau of Proprietary Services in an effort to provide assistance to affected students.
The mayor said the education department advised students to fill out a complaint form available at the City Chamberlain’s Office at City Hall or online at www.accis.nysed.gov/bpss.
Meanwhile, Matt Curtis, vice president of enrollment management at The College of Westchester in White Plains, said his school had articulation agreements with Ridley-Lowell on several of their programs and that could make a “clear and easy path” for course evaluation and transfer of some courses.
The College of Westchester will hold a session for Ridley-Lowell students on Saturday, April 14 at 11 a.m. at 325 Central Avenue in White Plains.
Ridley-Lowell closed all four of its campuses – Poughkeepsie, two in Connecticut and one in Rhode Island.
