Molinaro: “Believe Again”

TIVOLI – Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro formally launched his campaign to run for governor this fall with an announcement in his hometown of Tivoli on Monday morning.
He served there as mayor for 12 years after being elected at the age of 19.
Although he originally said he would not seek the Republican nomination for the upcoming gubernatorial race, he said during his address on Monday that an outpouring of support and encouragement changed his mind.
“I came to the conclusion that our state is at a dangerous crossroads,” said Molinaro. “We see the needs of everyday New Yorkers being neglected, and so many left without hope. So, today, I humbly ask you to join me. Join me in a campaign larger than any one person, any one candidate. A campaign more important than a race for governor. A campaign for the people and the very soul of the State of New York.”
Molinaro shunned what he said were Governor Cuomo’s political posturing and reliance on raising taxes to solve problems. Molinaro said his campaign will focus on cutting spending, lowering property taxes, making state government more accountable, as well as prioritizing public safety, infrastructure, education and making government resources more accessible to the most vulnerable of the state’s population.
Focusing on those policies, Molinaro said he hopes to stop the mass exodus that has been happening because New Yorkers are either hopeless, disillusioned by the state’s leadership, or simply just cannot afford to live in the state any longer.
Molinaro continued his campaign in Albany where he made another formal announcement.
