RYE – The $18 million Vienna Senior Apartments in Rye are officially
serving 41 residents. The ribbon was cut Thursday to ceremonially mark
the conclusion of construction of the four-story facility that residents
62 and over now call home.

The apartments are 100 percent affordable and build with a number of efficiency
features including lighting and plumbing.

“This project is breaking down barriers,” said state Commissioner
of Homes and Community Renewal RuthAnne Visnauskas. The state contributed
$14.3 million toward construction of the new apartments.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer, a resident of Rye, said he
has been assisting in moving the project forward for many years while
he was a county legislator and later, as state senator.

County Legislator Catherine Parker, a former member of the Rye City Council,
said the Vienna Senior Apartments “hit a home run.”
