Chichester man charged with shooting firearm several times near a residence

KINGSTON – A Chichester man has been arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and illegal discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a residence.
Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of 28 Rion Road in the Town of Shandaken at around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 for a report of a man possible armed with a firearm threatening to harm himself.  While patrol units were on the way there, 911 fielded a number of calls of shots fire in the area.
Investigation determined that Joseph Depasquale, 63, fired several shots in the immediate area of several residences while in the presence of a 14-year-old. No one was injured.  Depasquale was arraigned in the Town of Shandaken Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail to reappear on a later date.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by town police from Shandaken, Olive and Woodstock, as well as State Police.
