Two arrested, fentanyl and gun seized in Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE – A City of Poughkeepsie man and woman were arrested by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force after members executed a search warrant last Friday at 100 Academy Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.  The warrant was a result of an investigation into narcotics sales taking place at and around that location.
Taken into custody were Anthony Melendez, 33, also known as Arnold Melendez, and Quinshaya Melendez, 28, both of that address.  Police seized some three ounces of fentanyl, an illegal 9 mm handgun, approximately $3,500 in cash, scales and packaging materials.
Anthony Melendez was charged with felonies of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon. He was sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
Quinshaya Melendez was charged with felony tampering with physical evidence and a misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child. She was released on an appearance ticket.
The City of Poughkeepsie Police Neighborhood Recovery Unit assisted at the scene.
