KINGSTON – It’s a law on the books in the City of Kingston that isn’t enforced and Mayor Steven Noble would like to remove the requirement to register bicycles from the books.
First instituted in 1984, Noble said it was designed to help track down and return stolen bikes to their rightful owners.
“We have less and less of that problem and when we were working
with our Bike Friendly Kingston and some of our bicycle advocacy groups
we realized that this was something that was outdated, not needed, nor
enforced, nor was it complied with,” Noble said.
It is expected that the current common council will follow the wishes of the mayor.
