NEWBURGH – Police have a local man in custody following an alert by the city’s Shot Spotter system that identified the exact location of shots fired just seconds before.
Officers responded to the report of two shots fired inside Delano-Hitch Park, directly across from the Newburgh Community Unity Armory. Shell casings were found in the area that the Shot Spotter identified.
Officer Alonzo stopped Tyliek Bush, 19, of the City of Newburgh, leaving the area as he placed his hand in his waistband.  As the officer approached Bush, he attempted to reach into his waistband, but with the aid of a second officer Rivera and a K-9, Bush was taken into custody.
Officer Alonzo sustained injuries to his shoulder and knee.
Bush was found in possession of a .22 caliber revolver with a defaced serial number. He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
