MONTICELLO – A Monticello man has been sentenced in Sullivan County Court to nine years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision for the strong-arm robbery of a 75-year-old man at the Monticello Citgo gas station on Forestburgh Road on June 14, 2017.
Keith Jackson, 29, pled guilty to felony robbery admitting that he forcibly robbed the victim. During the crime he punched and threw the man to the ground resulting in substantial bruising, pain and physical injury.
Sullivan County District Attorney James Farrell credited Monticello Village Police with vigorously pursuing the investigation with the assistance of Liberty Village Police.
Farrell said Jackson had targeted the elderly victim thinking he would be easy prey.
Jackson was sentenced as a second felony offender having a prior felony conviction for assault in 2010 for which he was on parole supervision at the time he committed this robbery and owes parole approximately two years of his prior sentence.
