RED HOOK – A two-alarm fire of undetermined origin damaged a house at 104 Read Road in the Town of Red Hook on Wednesday afternoon.
The residence was deemed uninhabitable. All residents, who escaped unharmed, were assisted by the Red Cross with temporary accommodations
When firefighters arrived around 3:15 p.m., they found heavy smoke pouring from the building and fire coming from a second-story window.  Tivoli and Red Hook firefighters assisted Red Hook battle the blaze which took some 30 minutes to bring under control.
Red Hook Fire Chief Steve Fell said the response by firefighters was quick, enabling them to stop the blaze from spreading any further.
In addition to the 30 firefighters at the scene, Rhinebeck, Livingston and Elizaville fire departments were on standby.
