DOVER – Two bomb threats
aimed at the Dover Union Free School District resulted in identification
of a student believed responsible.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and State Police investigated
the phoned in threats to Dover High School on Wednesday morning.

The threats were not specific to a particular building or school so all
school buildings were evacuated and searched. No suspicious packages or
devices were located and school resumed at around 11 a.m.

Investigators Thursday arrested a 14-year-old boy, who made the calls
as pranks. He was turned over to the jurisdiction of family court.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, the sheriff’s office and State Police
received several calls concerning a Snapchat posting that was being circulated
and causing alarm within the same school district.

The posting stated: “I heard they are suppose to shoot up both Dover
and New Milford school tomorrow at 12.”

A joint investigation led to identification a 16-year-old Dover High School
student who had no malicious intent. It was determined there was no credible
threat concerning any of the Dover Union schools.

New Milford Police, meanwhile, were investigating the posting concerning
rumors of threats of violence at that high school.
