WAPPINGER – A Poughkeepsie man, who is a teacher at Fishkill Plains Elementary School, was arrested on Friday on six felony counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child.
On January 26, State Police initiated an investigation into inappropriate comments made by the teacher, Steven Schwartz, 53, of Poughkeepsie, to a student in the Wappingers Central School District.
An investigation by State Police and the Dutchess County Child Advocacy Center with assistance of the school district revealed that Schwartz possessed images of child pornography on personally-owned electric devices. He was sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
