Rendering of proposed transit center

MIDDLETOWN – Construction of a new transit center in downtown Middletown is expected to begin when the warmer weather approaches.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano has been given the approval by the common council
to sign a contract with Hudson Transit Lines to begin the work.
“The transit center has been through the planning board,” DeStefano said. “The contract signing was the last part of the process as who is going to main the lots and defining the area of the lots and the Heritage Trail coming through. That is now done and that project is free to move ahead now.”
The existing ShortLine/Coach USA bus terminal area will be redesigned to be a modern multi-modal transit center making it an attractive looking gateway for people coming into Middletown.
