NEW CITY – A 23-year-old Orange County man has been arraigned on a charge of attempted murder, two counts of assault and one count of criminal possession of a weapon.

It is alleged that Elijah Dean stabbed a man several times on his body, head and neck after he approached the victim in his driveway at Trailside Place in New City.

The victim of the assault at about 8:40 p.m. on April 11 was transported to the hospital by ambulance in serious condition.

The investigation was conducted by Ramapo Police with the assistance of Spring Valley Police, Clarkstown Police and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office and Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal investigation.

Bail was set at $1 million cash, $5 million secured bond, or $10 million partially secured bond at 10 percent.

Dean was remanded to the Rockland County Jail pending a future court appearance.

Rockland District Attorney Thomas Wash II called assault a “brutal act of apparently random violence.”
