LIBERTY – A Liberty man was arrested by the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force on a federal warrant for escape.
Alfred Franklin, 33, who had been released to a halfway house after serving a federal prison sentence for narcotics offenses, absconded from that facility.
A joint investigation by the Sullivan task force, the US Department of Homeland Security, US Marshals Service and Liberty Police revealed Franklin was frequenting a residence in the Village of Liberty.
Franklin was arrested, processed at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and turned over the US Marshals Service.
The welfare task force also arrested Raymond Myers of Loch Sheldrake and charged him with the felony of filing a false instrument and 13 misdemeanor counts of theft of services. It is alleged that he used $926 worth of medical transportation services for non-medical purposes.
Donald Doolittle, 39, of Monticello, was charged with the felony of offering a false instrument for filing and a misdemeanor of welfare fraud. It is alleged that he stole $2,928 in food stamp benefits by failing to report household income.
