MONTICELLO – Sullivan
County has adjusted limits for accepting debris through its municipal
cleanup initiative. One goal is to encourage cleanup of decrepit or “zombie”
properties.

County Manager Joshua Potosek told the county legislature’s Public
Works Committee on Thursday they are working on a formula for each town
and village.

“There’s funds in the ’18 budget for that,” Potosek
said. “We’ve tasked planning with coming up with a program
to develop that, so coming before you, some of the plans in progress being
with the program that you would adopt and we then would solicit from the
towns and villages for eligible properties, so you should see something
getting done this year.”
In other business, with a major storm that could include a lot of ice
tomorrow (Wednesday), the committee learned that the DPW has already used
up its budgeted allotment for road salt. That will mean moving some money
around in the county budget.
