GOSHEN – The Orange County Legislature approved creation of directors of tourism and economic development on Thursday. The proposal for both came from
County Executive Steven Neuhaus. He said after the vote that the county is “hot” in both categories. “We had the highest returns in the Hudson Valley for sales tax revenues in the last year and we want to continue to build on that and that’s by emphasizing on economic development and tourism, tourism being the major industry that is growing,” he said.
Neuhaus wants to appoint a professional in each field to promote both.
Lawmakers also confirmed James Brooks as the new county parks commissioner.
