WHITE PLAINS – A man who served as a volunteer wrestling coach in Rockland County was sentenced in federal court on Tuesday to 13 years in prison and 15 years of supervised release following his guilty plea to receiving files containing sexually explicit images of a minor.
Marcus Stroud, 20, committed a crime that is “the nightmare of every parent,” said Manhattan US Attorney Geoffrey Berman. “Stroud used social media platforms to prey upon and exploit a teenage boy for his own sexual gratification,” he said.
In December 2015, using an account name, Stroud sent nude photos of a woman to the victim and asked for nude photos in return. After the victim provided several photos, Stroud told the victim that he would release them on social media unless he was provided a video of the victim engaged in a sex act with another person.
In January 2016, Stroud told the victim he could prevent the images from being released if he performed a sex act with him. In February, Stroud met the victim in Rockland County where they engaged in sexual activity and he recorded it. He then told the victim he would send the video to the woman who had requested it and would put a virus on the video so that when she opened it, Stroud would be able to take control of her phone and delete the victim’s photos.
