PHILMONT – A Stockport man was arrested on Friday on charges of
sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on January
8 into a reported sexual offense that occurred in the Village of Philmont
in 2017. The victim at the time was under 17 years of age at the time.
The sheriff’s office was alerted to the abuse after the victim reported
it to a deputy.
The investigation led to the arrest of August Depolito, 23, who was charged
with the misdemeanors. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
