Kingston bank robbery suspect caught

KINGSTON – Police in the City of Kingston have one person in custody following an Uptown bank robbery late Thursday afternoon.
Ryan O’Connor, 30, of Hannacroix in Greene County was charged with felony robbery. He allegedly entered the Key Bank branch at 276 Wall Street, demanded money and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was displayed.
There were several customers in the bank at the time of the robbery, but no one was hurt or injured.
A description of the suspect was broadcast to police patrols and a brief search of the area resulted in O’Connor’s vehicle being stopped at the roundabout between Washington Avenue and I-587. He was taken into custody without resistance. The stolen money was recovered along with other evidence.
Kingston Police were assisted by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Ulster Police and the New York State Police.
