Warwick man sentenced to prison for enticing minors for sex

WHITE PLAINS – A Warwick
man was sentenced in federal court on Friday to 16 years in prison for
enticing three minors to engage in sexual activity.
Robert Garneau, 23, pled guilty to three counts of enticing a minor on May 25, 2017.
According to documents and statements in the case, from September 2014 to December 1, 2014, Garneau, who is a registered sex offender, communicated online via Instagram and Kik with a then 12-year-old in California and convinced that victim to take and send sexually explicit photos to him. On August 10, 2015 and July 18, 2015, Garneau engaged in the same type of activity with two more minors.
While communicating with the victims, Garneau posed as a minor and threatened his victims that if they did not send additional photos or videos, they would be arrested.
In addition to prison, Garneau, was sentenced to 15 years of supervised release.
