Two loaded guns, police ID stolen from car

SAUGERTIES – Police in Saugerties are investigating larcenies to 10 unlocked vehicles in the village during the overnight hours including one involving the theft of two loaded guns.
During one of those larcenies, in Latham Circle, two handguns in a black Swiss Army backpack were taken along with the owner’s retired police ID card, a retired chief’s badge from the Saugerties Police Department, the owner’s security ID and pistol permit.  The guns were a .380 caliber semi-automatic and a .38 caliber revolver. Both were loaded and there was additional ammunition in the backpack.
The Saugerties Police Detective Division is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for the larcenies and getting the firearms off the street.
