TOWN OF SOUTHEAST – No one is more generous when it comes to helping people in need than Terry Danvin.
The proprietor of the Brewster Pastry Shop in Southeast decided recently to conduct a raffle in order to benefit the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Danvin’s 10-year-old nephew is a bone cancer survivor in France and he remembered how the community rallied around his family on the other side of the Atlantic to assist when matters were touch and go.
Danvin contacted a number of area merchants and asked for their support. Donations were received while gift cards were contributed as well for a gala raffle.
This past weekend Carmen and Vincent Catalanotto of Brewster visited the store to purchase some of Danvin’s French pastries and they were asked to dig deep into a jar and select two winning tickets. Marty Butler and Thomas Kane’s names were selected – each a recipient of $600 worth of holiday gifts from the various merchants.
Danvin said more than $1,000 had already been raised for St. Jude’s and the collection was going to continue until January 1, 2018.
“I love helping people,” said Danvin. “I hope this benefit makes the holidays bright for those in need.”
Merchants participating included Clock Tower Grill, 121 Restaurant, Wandering Dave’s, Aversano’s Restaurant, Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant, Sunny’s Nail Salon, China Star, Buy-Rite Liquors, Laundry Garden, Sunsational Bays, Union Hall Market, Value Village, On Line Hair Design, PMR Physical Therapy, World Gym and the Brewster Pastry Shop.
