Putnam’s new sheriff names captains

CARMEL – Putnam County Sheriff-elect Robert Langley, Jr. has named five new captains as the command team for his new administration.
The five, including the first female captain in the history of the sheriff’s office, each has an average of 25 years of law enforcement experience.
Jon Jennings will be the captain of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. He is currently a special agent with the FBI serving as acting supervisory agent of the FBI’s Organized Crime Squad.
Kevin Cheverki will be captain in charge of the county jail. He currently serves as commissioner of correction at the Westchester County Department of Correction.
Lisa Ortolano, Esq., will serve as captain of the civil division. She brings over 27 years of criminal and civil law experience, as a career prosecutor, defense attorney and civil litigator.
Edward Swarm, Jr. will be captain of the road patrol. He has served for 24 years with the New York City Police Department rising to lieutenant of detectives.
James Babcock will be captain of communications. He served in the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office from 1993 through 2016. He is also a senior non-commissioned officer with the 105th Air Wing Communications Flight at the New York Air National Guard Base at Stewart Airport in the Town of Newburgh.
