Woman arrested following hit and run involving child

MOUNT IVY – A Stony Point woman was arrested and charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, assault and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance following an incident on Route 202 in Mount Ivy on Friday night, October 1.
Ramapo Town Police were notified by Hatzolah Ambulance after 11 p.m. that a child, between the ages of seven and nine had been struck by a vehicle that did not stop.
The victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center by ambulance with facial injuries and a broken leg.
The vehicle was later located by Ramapo Police officers at the Mt. Ivy Diner. The driver, Melissa Furnari, 35, of Stony Point, was inside. She was arrested, arraigned and released on bail.
