MIDDLETOWN – The $39.8 million Middletown city budget for 2018 was approved Tuesday night by the common council. The spending plan comes in under the state tax cap.
Taxes for a family with a house assessed at $30,000 will go up about $8.
Two unfilled and previously budgeted police positions will be filled.
The city’s fund balance will not be impacted by the spending plan; however, $2 million in sewer and water revenue will subsidize the property tax.
