MIDDLETOWN – Dozens of people came out Saturday in a “stop the violence” walk calling for an end to the bloodshed on the streets of Middletown.  The event was organized by Corey White, Sr., the father of Coree White, Jr., 19, who was shot on Wallkill Avenue in the city three months ago. He later died at the hospital.
Police continue to investigate the murder, but have made no arrests to date.
Corey White Sr. said the violence on the streets must stop.
“There is a lot of violence, a lot of black-on-black crime,” White senior said. “A lot of our youths have nothing to do so they revert to gangs and drugs and the opioid epidemic is really big right now that life style – it’s either the drugs or violence that gets you.”

The time since Coree’s death has been very tough on his mother, Emily.
“When they killed my son I lost my soul,” Emily said. “It’s just a fact of trying to find the strength every day to go on. It gets harder and harder for me as his mother and with the no justice, it makes it even harder. It’s three months now. We try to stay positive and make the community come out as one.”
Mr. White believes that someone knows something about who shot his son. “If you see something, say something,” he said, repeating the oft-spoken advice from law enforcement.
