Off-duty corrections officer shot in head while driving, crashes, dies

TOWN OF WOODBURY – An
off-duty Rockland County Sheriff’s deputy, assigned to the corrections
division, suffered a single gunshot wound to the head as he drove on Route
6 – Long Mountain Parkway – in the Town of Woodbury Tuesday
afternoon.

State Police said Frank Farina, 42, of Stony Point was driving around
1:30 p.m. The vehicle crossed the road and struck a rock embankment.

The passenger, Jennifer Farina, 42, also of Stony Point, was transported
by ambulance to Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill,
where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Frank Farina was also transported to Orange Regional and was pronounced
dead.

The investigation is continuing and police are not saying who shot whom.
