POUGHKEEPSIE – PK Management, which operates the Rip Van Winkle apartments in Poughkeepsie, said power has been restored in the west wing of the building so residents should be able to return to their homes shortly.
The building was evacuated this past week after a basement electrical fire and residents who had no alternate accommodations have been put up at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center.
The management company said on Saturday that residents of the east wing
of the high-rise building will not be able to return until further notice.
Starting Sunday, those residents were being given hotel accommodations.
Due to the power outage, all food was removed from refrigerators and residents will be provided with a $100 per household reimbursement for the food. Those checks may be picked up at the Rip Van Winkle office beginning today.
