LIVINGSTON MANOR – To accommodate the cleanup efforts continuing in and around Livingston Manor, Sullivan County’s Rockland transfer station will extend its hours of operation from the usually 2:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. on this Friday, November 2.
Flooding in the early morning hours of October 30 damaged homes and businesses in the downtown area, ruining furniture, carpeting, fixtures and electronics.
“Residents and business people need to throw away these items quickly and hassle-free,” said County Legislator Joseph Perrello, chairman of the Public Works Committee. “This was the quickest way we could help them accomplish that and it reflects our dedication to aiding our communities.”
Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez said he has briefed the governor’s office about the situation and reached out to the Army Corps of Engineers “to see if long-planned flood mitigation efforts can be sped up. There’s more that can be done in Livingston Manor – let’s not wait until the next flood.”
County Manager Joshua Potosek said the county’s Division of Public Works and all other county departments “stand ready to assist Livingston Manor and the Town of Rockland in whatever way we can.”
