KINGSTON – Ulster County officials announced the arrest of a Saugerties woman on felony welfare fraud charges.
Vanessa Bobo was charged with welfare fraud and four counts of offering a false instrument for filing.
An investigation by the Ulster County Social Services Special Investigations Unit in conjunction with the District Attorney’s Office discovered Bobo failed to accurately report earned income from March through October 2017. That resulted in her receiving $3,135 in SNAP benefits (food stamps) to which she was not entitled.
Bobo was released to appear in Ulster County Court at a later date.
County officials said all reports of suspected fraud will be investigated. To report abuse, you may call the welfare anti-fraud and abuse hotline at 855-SIU-TIPS or 855-748-8477.
