Heavy rains cause flooding, evacuations

MID-HUDSON – The heavy
rains of the past 24 hours has prompted concerns of possible flooding,
but in one Sullivan County community, it became a reality.

Sullivan County Emergency Management reported early this (Monday) morning
that flooding was occurring in the Livingston Manor area. The county agency
called on residents of Pearl Street to evacuate immediately. Residents
were advised to all 911 if they needed assistance.

On the Thruway southbound, after 1 a.m. fallen trees blocked the left
lane of the highway between Kingston exit 19 and New Paltz exit 18.

On Sunday night, first responders were called to several situations of
trees down, some blocking roadways and others bringing down power lines
with them.

Orange and Rockland Utilities reported as of 10 p.m. on Sunday that it
restored power to more than 2,000 customers since declaring a storm alert
on Sunday.
