WHITE PLAINS – A Lagrangeville man has been indicted on a manslaughter
charge in connection with a fatal motor vehicle incident on the Taconic
State Parkway in Briarcliff Manor.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., said Christian
Walczyk, 21, was also charged with criminal impersonation and criminal
possession of a weapon in connection with the May 27, 2017 death of Daniel
Sino.

At about 10:25 p.m., the victim and his wife were driving southbound on
the Taconic in their Acura SUV when they encountered Walczyk also headed
southbound in his BMW sedan. At some point, Walczyk pulled in front of
the victim’s car and braked suddenly forcing the victim to brake
hard as well. The victim tried to pass, but Walczyk did not allow it.

The victim pulled over off the highway with Walczyk also pulling over
in front of his car. Both men got out of their vehicles with Walczyk holding
up a fake badge and concealing a folding knife behind his back.

When the two were face to face, Walczyk stabbed Sino twice in the chest.

Sino got back to his car and told his wife he had been stabbed. She helped
him into the passenger seat and drove off while calling 911. Sino died
further down the highway where his wife pulled over.

Walczyk drove off and also called 911 claiming he had been stabbed as
he accidentally cut his own finger during the assault.

The folding knife was later recovered at the stabbing scene.

If convicted, Walczyk faces up to 25 years in state prison.
