LAGRANGE – A motorcyclist
was killed Tuesday morning when a car crossed into the opposite lane of
travel on Route 55 near Mandalay Drive in the Town of LaGrange and struck
the cycle.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reported that at about 7:30
a.m. a 2009 Mazda driven by Judith Meredith, 57, of Poughkeepsie, crossed
into the path of the 1998 Kawasaki motorcycle and after striking it, re-entered
her lane of travel and struck a 2004 Toyota operated by Brandon Farias,
23, of Poughkeepsie.

The motorcyclist, whose name police did not immediately release pending
notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meredith was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie
with non-life threatening injuries. Farias was uninjured.

Police said at this time no charges have been filed and driver fatigue
appears to be a likely contributing factor to the crash.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Dutchess County
Medical Examiner’s Office and the LaGrange Fire Department.

The investigation is continuing by members of the sheriff’s Office
Crash Investigation Unit.
