KINGSTON – An off-duty, suspended Ulster County corrections officer
was arrested on Wednesday afternoon on a DWI charge in the Town of Rochester.

Eric Decker, 37, of Kerhonkson, was also charged with driving with a blood
alcohol content of over .18 percent, reckless endangerment, open contain
of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and failing to maintain lane.

Decker was previously arrested by deputies on August 11 for DWI and was
serving a suspension from his correction officer job for that arrest when
he was arrested for this offense.

At 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies responded to a 911 call for an erratic
vehicle. Deputies observed the vehicle fail to maintain lane and pull
into the Rondout Middle School parking lot in the Town of Rochester.

Investigation revealed he placed a student who was walking in the parking
lot at risk while he was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition.
Decker was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash
bail.
