POUGHKEEPSIE – City Police
in Poughkeepsie Wednesday arrested the companion of a Hyde Park man who
was stabbed to death on Thursday, September14 and charged her with manslaughter.
Nakia Bruton, 42, of Hyde Park was driven by private vehicle to Vassar
Brothers Medical Center around 6 p.m. He died later.
Police now said his companion, Marcena Edwards, 43, of Hyde Park, stabbed
him in the chest while they rode on Winnikee Avenue. She was driving at
the time when an argument ensued.
Their infant child was in the car with them.
Anyone who was in the area of Winnikee Avenue on Thursday, September 14
between 5:40 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. and may have witnessed the incident or
anyone who may have video of the incident is asked to call Poughkeepsie
City Police at 845-451-7577.
