HYDE PARK – Town of Hyde Park Police are instituting a targeting
traffic enforcement program in the wake of an increase in complaints about
speeding, overweight vehicles, erratic driving and other traffic issues.

The program will focus on roads that have been identified as having a
large number of traffic violations that endanger the safety of residents,
pedestrians, bicyclists and other drivers.

The department will deploy officers during specific times identified as
being the most problematic for violations and will focus on speed and
erratic driving violations, distracted driving violations, seatbelt violations
and violations of town ordinances concerning overweight and prohibited
vehicles.

Residents are encouraged to report areas in their neighborhoods where
violations have been observed to be included in the program. Reports can
be phoned in at 845-229-9340 or on the department’s Facebook page.
